Facilities

The Chemistry and Biochemistery Department has a wide range of equipment used both in teaching and student research projects.  This hands on training is particularly important in modern chemistry.  We have for student use:

  • Bruker ARX 400 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
  • FTIR machines for research and organic labs
  • 4 brands of UV/VIS spectrophotomers used at all levels of instruction
  • 4  types Gas Chromatographs  to provide a wide range of experience
  • Variety of HPLC systems for classroom and research use
  • Varian LC/MS system
  • Hewlett Packard GC/MS model 6890
  • Varian Spectra 220 AA-Scan I Atomic Absorption Spectrometers
  • Jasco Circular Dichroism Spectopolarimeter
  • VAC Atmospheres Inert Atmosphere Box
  • Rigaku Miniflex X-ray
  • Fluoromax Fluorometers and Licenses for ChemDraw and Spartan modeling software
  • Confocal Microscope
