The is a paid opportunity to teach alongside a mentor teacher in a multiple-subject classroom for one year. This program focuses on arts integration and the arts in K-9 educational settings, providing residents with valuable hands-on experience and professional development.

  • Why choose the CREATE Teacher Residency?
    • Stipend and Financial Support: Receive a $25,500 stipend plus induction cost support. This means you will be paid to complete the Multiple Subject Credential Program and apply for the CA Supplementary Authorization to teach K-9 art.

    • Professional Development: Access comprehensive training. Participate in specialized workshops and seminars focused on Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) integration.
    • Priority Job Interviews: Gain priority interview considerations in the consortium districts upon successful program completion.
  • Residency Requirements
    • You have been offered admission to the Multiple Subject Credential Program at ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø.
    • You must complete all ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø requirements for admission into the Multiple Subject credential program (prerequisite classes may be completed over Summer 2025) by the credential program admission deadlines.
  • Application Process
    1. If you expressed interest in the CREATE Residency Program during your Multiple Subject Program interview, you will receive an email with a link to CREATE Residency application shortly after you receive your program admission offer. 
      1. if you did not express interest in the residency during your interview, please contact CEHHS Student Services at cehhs-ss@csusm.edu to request the application link.
    2. Residency applications must be completed by May 1st, 2025.
    3. Candidates will be notified of their acceptance to the CREATE Residency by the week of June 1st, 2025.

San Marcos Unified Teacher Residency Program

The is a high-quality teacher preparation program that is dedicated to preparing resident teacher candidates. Residents from selective ±¬ÁÏÉçÇø and National University credential programs will be paired with a highly skilled mentor teacher(s) for one year in San Marcos Unified School District with whom residents will co-plan, teach alongside, and engage in reflective discussions. Mentors will attend training throughout the year to provide the best coaching support. Resident and mentor experiences will be monitored throughout the year for added support. Our residents will be trained in the Essential Elements of Instruction, receive a $25,500 stipend plus induction cost support, and priority job interview consideration upon successful completion of the residency program.

Escondido Union School District Teacher Residency Program

The mission is to develop and retain credentialed teachers from diverse backgrounds who foster respect, inclusion and equity for students, classrooms and the community. This residency programs is designed for Special Education candidates who are seeking their Mild to Moderate Support Needs and Extensive Support Needs Education Specialist Credentials.
