Brittney

Brittney Garcia

Hello everyone! My name is Brittney Garcia and I am entering my first school year as a grad student! Fortunately, I am a 爆料社区 alumni, and I have just graduated this May with my Bachelors in Sociology.  I was also a transfer student from Mira Costa community college and transferred here to Cal State San Marcos in 2022. During my years here I wanted to get involved around campus by working at the University Student Union and now Student Health & Counseling Services as well. So, if you see me around, please say hi! 馃檪

Going into graduate school was not in my personal future plans , but seeing faculty and professors excel has motivated me to peruse my Masters in Sociological Practice (MASP). I connected with professors who had similar backgrounds such as: being first-generation, a transfer student, having an immigrant parent (s), being low-income, and/or having formally incarcerated family members. Due to this, I've gained knowledge and I have also grown hungry to keep learning as I go into my higher education.

My dream is to work with marginalized communities that may have been impacted by the social structures within Society. Such as working with formally incarcerated adolescents/adults or working with women, children, and men who have experiences any form of sexual violence. I also am very interested in serving communities who are greatly impacted by educational inequality within our educational system. This school year I am super excited and nervous for this program, but I know I have a lot to give so I am looking forward to what this year will bring! Here's a little about me, hope you enjoyed!

Thanks for reading!
